Tragically, a man has died after being crushed by a crane at the Narellan Pools manufacturing facility at Stapylton, Queensland.
The Courier Mail is reporting that the man, believed to be in his 40s, was run over by the crane in the early afternoon on Thursday, August 19.
Emergency services attended the scene of the accident but the man had suffered critical crush injuries and could not be saved. Tragically, he passed away at the scene.
The incident reportedly occurred near the loading dock as a 12 tonne articulated crane was moving a large fibreglass pool.
Chris Perera of the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) said that the crane had made contact with the man, subsequently causing crush injuries which were life-threatening and critical. He said QAS staff including a High Acuity Response Unit team with a doctor performed CPR but tragically the man died at the scene.
Worksafe Queensland is investigating.
