The Swimming Pool and Spa Association of Australia (SPASA Australia) has acquired Pool+Spa magazine and website from Universal Magazines’ parent company UM Media Group Pty Ltd.
SPASA Australia CEO Lindsay McGrath says that after a two-year strategic alliance with the magazine and website’s publisher, UM subsidiary Westwick Farrow Media (WFM), SPASA has taken the next step in the media landscape to add further value to members.
“The acquisition creates a more efficient and unified communication platform for the pool and spa industry”, he says.
“The magazine and website will now evolve to target the current pool and spa owner. This will promote consistent best practice and offer a positive message about the pool and spa industry. It is a natural extension from Choosing Your Pool & Spa magazine which celebrates the Awards of Excellence and SPASA Australia’s Pool, Spa and Outdoor Living expos.”
WFM will continue to partner with SPASA to edit and publish the Pool & Spa magazine with current editor Dannielle Furness continuing in her role. The website and digital content will evolve to improve the interaction with both trade and consumer readers.
Geoff Hird, managing director of WFM, says that the evolution to SPASA ownership of Pool & Spa is great for the industry.
“The new Pool & Spa magazine and improved digital influences will inform and encourage pool and spa owners to optimise their outdoor living experience,” he says.
With this latest acquisition, SPASA can both significantly increase the distribution of the SPLASH! magazine to the professional trade and the commercial sector, expand the reach of splashmagazine.com.au and the SPASA Australia websites, and extend its vast content library to the consumer through the new Pool & Spa brand.
“This diverse media mix supports all membership sectors including construction, retail and service, inspection, commercial and supply,” says McGrath.
